A 16-year-old boy has been killed and another is in a critical condition after a shooting near a high school in Chicago on Friday. Another 16-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl have also been admitted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the city’s fire officials, the incident took place near Benito Juarez High School in the 2100-block of Laflin Street in the Pilsen neighborhood.
They added that the shooting happened outside the school and one of the victims was injured inside during the incident.
Chicago police spokesperson Tom Ahern has confirmed the shooting happened outside the school, and added that an “all-clear” has been issued to students still inside the school from Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
